Dance - Beauty in Motion

Dance is beauty in motion.  Dancers are beauty actors.  Let me explain.  With all due respect to and love for all dancers I suggest that some dancers are not among the most phsycially beautiful people on earth.  However, when they dance, they are the most beautiful people on earth.  They transform when they dance and the transformation is beauty.  They act beautiful.  Beauty Actors.  We all have this skill.  At any moment we can decide that we are suddenly beautiful and move in a way to emphasize our beauty.  Its subtle, but we have all seen proof.  The kindest words ever uttered to me, "you move like a dancer".

If my memory serves me, Sirona Knight wrote, in an article from the now defunct but once wonderful Magical Blend Magazine, that there is a mode of dance where one is not concerned about how one looks.  That is quite different from the posturings of the Ballet and from Elaine's famous awkwardly self-concious dance on Seinfeld replete with a badly sickled ankle, thrusting, disconnected movements and and a hilariously misguided notion that she looked 'cool'.  No, dancing with abandon, ignoring one's appearance, truly ignoring one's appearance while dancing - and how difficult that is - if achieved, is a communion with one's greater self.  A trance.  A prayer.  It is the dance of a child.  It may or may not turn out to be beautiful to an observer but no matter, it brings beauty to the dancer from one's greater self.

And if all that is not enough - while one is dancing, one is not aging.
